Please enter your weight or exercise by June 7, 2010 - that is the last day!

REGISTRATION

Q: Can I register as a family?

A: No, each person must register separately. Registration is done with an email address. If you need an email address, then sign up for a free email account at a website like Yahoo. You can certainly create a team that's a family.

Q: Can I register a private team that nobody else can join?

A: All teams that are created are public accessible.

Q: There already is someone using our email address. How can I register?

A: There is only one account allowed per email address because we send out email reminders to you. If you need to register another person, then we suggest getting an additional email account from your Internet service provider or else go get a free email account at a website like Yahoo.

Q: How much food is donated if I choose the fitness category?

A: You may choose weight loss OR fitness. If you enter under fitness, you have three options - each one increasing in exercise commitment and intensity. The greater the commitment level, the larger the food donation:

  • Option 1 will earn 200 lbs of food donated to Second Harvest on your behalf.
  • Option 2 will earn 400 lbs of food donated to Second Harvest on your behalf.
  • Option 3 will earn 600 lbs of food donated to Second Harvest on your behalf.

Q: Will I get reminder emails so I remember to enter my weight loss or exercise?

A: Yes, they are sent out every Thursday while the program is in effect. You should enter your weight or exercise on the Friday of each week to count for that week.

Q: Do I have to be a member of the Princeton Club to be in the Million Pound Challenge?

A: No, you do not. A health club like the Princeton Club can certainly help you lose weight but you do not need to be a member to join. You can be a member of another gym or not be a member of any gym.

In order to use the Princeton Clubs, one would need to become a Princeton Club member. Memberships vary in length and price (for example; a 24 month couple membership is $36 a month each). Stop in one of the clubs and they can help get you started, if you desire to do so.

Q: Can I sign up for both losing weight and exercising?

A: You may choose one or the other to participate in. So choose weight loss OR fitness, but not both.

Q: Is there a cost?

A: No, no cost!

Q: Is there an official weigh in?

A: No, it's just on the good, old honor system. You will report your weight here by logging in with the account that you create.

Q: What is the maximum amount of weight or exercise that will be counted per person?

A: The program runs 21 weeks. The most that's counted per week is 2 pounds. It's great if you lose more but that's the set amount that will count toward the Million Pound Challenge. So each person that signs up and loses 42 pounds or more (2lb. per week) will have donated 420 pounds of food.

We are now allowing all the weight that you have lost be counted toward donations, so please report your weight.

Q: How do we keep track of our weight loss, individually or as a group total? It appears that after I register the team, we each log in and add our names, individually, to the Team. Am I correct? I'm guessing that we each individually report our weight loss on our own, is this correct?

You, (and the members of your team), will log on the web site and record your weight loss each week, on Friday, by using your password, and entering your weight loss for the week, this is done individually. The total pounds lost will be shown as one number for your whole group or team.

Q: How is the weight loss goal set?

Each person sets their own weight loss goal when they register. A maximum of 2 lbs per week, or 42 pounds total, (over the 21 weeks) will be allowed. As they achieve their weight loss, and record it each week, they will see how many pounds of food they have help contribute through Second Harvest, to their favorite local pantry. If someone losses the max of 42 lbs, they would get credit for 420 pounds of food!

Q: How confidential are your listings? Will my name be published and can others see my name and progress?

A: Your name and weight loss will be kept strictly confidential.

Q: Can I switch from losing weight to hours exercised or vice versa?

A: You can. To do that, we'll have to remove your account and then you can re-register again, choosing the option that you want. Send an email to Tony ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) requesting this.

Q: I said I would lose 12 pounds, so why does it say I'm going to lose 120 pounds?

A: The 12 pounds is your goal and for each 1 pound of weight you lose, 10 pounds is donated (ten times). That's why it says 120 pounds. You only have to lose your 12 - or more!

TEAMS

Q: Does the person that made the team enter everyone's weight or do they do that individually?

A: Each person enters their own weight using their own account that they created.

Q: Do I need to enter our pledge? I see other 'teams' listed and once I have a commitment from my congregation, I would like to make it public.

A: You can be the one that can register and enter your team or group, (using your churches name, or any team name you wish). Then each time a new person registers, they can choose to join your team. They also get to pick which pantry receives their food pledge. Pretty sweet!

Q: A team was created after I registered. Can I join that team now?

A: Yes, please send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it stating which team you would like to switch to. The email will need to come from the email address you registered with.

Q: How can I see who is on my team?

A: Team captains (person who started the team) can see the progress of your team on the Teams page. They can see just the names and email addresses of people on their team. They cannot see any information about their weight or how much they have lost.

Team captains: when you login to your page to enter your weight, you'll see a link at the bottom with your team name. Click on that link to see who is on your team.

If this is not clear to you, then download and view this PDF file: mpc-view_team.pdf 440.14 Kb

Q: If duplicate teams are being created, are you cleaning that up?

A: Yes, we are. So if you created a team with a similar name as another team, you may have noticed that you've been moved to a different team.

FOOD PANTRIES

Q: My local food pantry isn't on the list. Can it be added? / Why isn't my food pantry listed?

The Million Pound Challenge is a partnership between Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin and the Princeton Club. If you do not see your pantry listed, there could be many reasons:

  1. The Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin serves 16 counties in southwestern Wisconsin, including Adams, Dane, Dodge, Columbia, Crawford, Grant, Green, Iowa, Jefferson, Juneau, Lafayette, Monroe, Richland, Rock, Sauk, and Vernon. If your pantry is in another county, it is not a beneficiary of this campaign. However, you still can participate to benefit Second Harvest Foodbank or another neighboring pantry.
  2. Not every pantry in the above mentioned 16 counties is a member of Second Harvest Foodbank. Partner agencies hold a 501(c)(3) tax status determined by the Internal Revenue Service; have a current agency agreement on file with Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin; and adhere to charitable food distribution guidelines put forth by Second Harvest Foodbank.
  3. The Million Pound Challenge is benefiting emergency, community-based food pantries that were partner agencies of Second Harvest Foodbank as of 12/31/09.

If you still feel your pantry should be listed or have additional questions, please email Anna Nelson at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Q: Can we request several different locations to have the food dontated, as several of us are from Rock County?

Yes, you can each individually, choose which of the hundreds of local pantries you would like to see receive your food donation.

USERNAMES AND PASSWORDS

Q: I tried to reset my username and password and it did not work.

A: Please make sure you copy and paste that token key. Do not try to type it in manually because if you miss one character or get one character wrong, it will not work.

Q: I can't remember my password. What should I do?

A: You can request that your password be sent to you on this page.

REPORTING WEIGHT LOSS OR EXERCISE

Q: I missed putting in my weight loss or exercise. Can I still enter it?

A: Yes, as long as you were signed up for that week, you can report it at anytime. It's best to keep reporting it as you go so that you keep the momentum and also keep our donation statistics up to date.

Q: I've lost 5 lbs. of weight and it's showing that I've donated 40 lbs. of food, not 50 lbs. What's going on?

A: There is a 2 lb. per week max. so you probably have maxed it out 2 weeks in a row, for a total of 4 lbs. lost and 40 lbs. of food donated.
